Foot valve
A foot valve is a type of check valve installed at the end of a suction line, usually at the bottom of a pump intake pipe. Its main function is to allow fluid to flow in only one direction, preventing backflow when the pump stops. By keeping the suction line filled with liquid, a foot valve helps maintain prime in the pumping system and makes it easier for the pump to restart without losing suction.Foot valves are commonly used in water wells, irrigation systems, fuel transfer systems, and various industrial fluid-handling applications. They are especially useful in situations where the pump is located above the fluid source and must draw liquid upward.
